JANUARY JUVENATION
Look in the dictionary and the definition of Juvenate is to re-energise and for me this totally transmits the essence of January. When looking at the winter landscape it seems to be sleeping.. recharging its batteries for the year ahead. In past years I have tried to escape to a rural cottage to share the quiet drowsiness of each new year. A place to celebrate the stark beauty of our winters and to join mother nature as she replenishes her strength to face the coming year ahead. This little cottage is exactly the type of place I'd choose for my January escape.

Small rural cottage in rustic stone. Decorated throughout in a palette of winter colours to reflect the outside environment. Soft beiges, winter whites. grays and smokey blues. A home that echoes a typical January in my English countryside.

January in England is often the month we expect some snow, so it seemed appropriate to set this design in this winter landscape.
When I had my winter getaway my four legged buddy always came too
Covered porch
This little area complete with fire is a perfect quiet spot to watch the beauty of the snowy landscape in a semi open covered porch.
Hallway
The hallway is large enough to have a small office area and extra sofa.
Winter boots ...my favourite item of clothing. A girl can NEVER have too many pairs.!!
Corridor
This corridor area leads from the bedroom along to the bathroom with a small seating area to one end.
Bathroom
Come relax by the fire in a deep hot bath.
Bedroom
Another fireplace in the bedroom... plus a comfy chair to curl up in.

I love this beautiful cottage with its perfect wintry neutral palette! The stone walls and blond floors, along with the soft linens had me dreaming of cocooning here for the whole season! Not to mention the fireplaces! But ohhh those cozy sitting areas outside and in -- especially the spot in the hallway -- were my absolute favorite shots. Wonderful design, my friend!
