A typical New York apartement building. It is five stories high, not including the basement. The facade is made entirely with Homestyler Interior Modelling 2.0 software. It represents the classical prewar big city apartment architecture, most often seen in New York. The interior is designed in a traditional style with a few modern touches.

There are several conversion sites on the web. If using Bing or Chrome as search engine type this in the search bar: 'x ft=m' usually what comes back is the answer and then a bunch of sites that you can bookmark for further use. The 'Brownstone' name came from the fact that the stones were brown!! If you do an image search 'brownstones in brooklyn' you can see them. Many have been internally modernized but the footprints have remained the same especially in the historical districts.

Thank you for the tip! I did not know these were so easily available on the internet. Also, I actually didn't know that they were called 'Brownstones' at all, so I really didn't know what to search for (thank you for telling me). I was honestly surprised when I followed your instructions and realized that all three floors were just one apartment and not several as I had thought. Most of them are in feet unfortunately, I am much more used to the metric system, but I'll figure it out:)

You did just fine❣ There are lots of floor plans on the web, 'brownstone floor plans' in the image search, make sure you go to the actual page/article to get all floors. Just keep in mind that when you upload the image-draw manually-make your hall width at least 4-6 ft in order to be able to take decent renders. Your room sizes won't be authentic but it allows you to have a lot more room to work with. Do the 1st floor 1st with staircase placement & everything after that will be a breeze.

Thank you sooo much! I am so glad to hear the opinion of an actual New Yorker! I realize my facade doesn't do justice to the beautifully crafted facades of Brooklyn or Chicago buildings, for instance, but there's only so much you can do with only little time to spare. I had some trouble with the inside plan, though, since I don't know the usual layout in these apartments. I wish I had your experience when designing the plan:)

THIS IS FABULOUS. I had family & lived in Brooklyn NYC for years and this facade is EXACTLY what the 'Brownstone Historical District' homes looked like. In Chicago (lived for 11 yrs) they are called 'Greystones' cause they are made with Limestone. I have redrawn (and found) inside plans for a Brooklyn Brownstone but have lacked the courage to tackle the facade. Kudos to you for being brave enough. 👏👏👏👏👏
