#EcoHomeContest TheTree of Life
Eco homes are all about sustainability and trying to integrate with mother nature. Welcome to my take on an environmentally friendly house. Where possible recycled or reclaimed items have been used.. or have been sourced from sustainable stocks of materials. The title is a link to all the incredible trees we pass and take so often take for granted each day and to the large centre point mural depicted in this home. This property has a large living space as its centre complete with kitchen area and also a raised mezzanine level and balcony. There is a bedroom/bathroom and also a garage under the mezzanine area. The house sits discreetly within wooded parklands and has a grassed roof for energy efficiency.
A side seating area looking across to the dining and kitchen areas and showing the tree mural.
set in wooded parklands this eco friendly property is a mix of wood, reclaimed bricks and concrete structure.
To the front a balcony area over looks a decked platform with water feature.
oak and light mahogany have been used mainly in this design as both are amongst the most eco friendly woods currently.
the car has been converted to electric ... even though the exhaust pipes remain. Or be really green and get on your bike.
Eco homes come in many guises this home is all about blending with nature and offering a relaxed environment.
From every window trees and greenery offer the owners beautiful natural backdrops.
The mezzanine level can be seen looking down over the sitting area.
from the dining area a view through the windows of the raised decked terrace.
stairs leading to the mezzanine area.
scrap metals are often forged together to produce reusable and bespoke alloys perfect for this sink.
The tree of life.... this artwork was the inspiration for whole interior.
Using reclaimed woods ... the kitchen has a rustic laid back feel.
stylish yet sustainable.... what most Eco homes wish to accomplish.
The mezzanine area doubles as a guest bedroom, complete with handy day bed and also raised seating area, it leads directly onto a covered balcony.
the balcony.. perfect for taking in the leafy surroundings.
the decked area with views into the main living space.
another angle of the raised sitting area.
the bedroom is large and airy... the large windows throughout this property are so typical of eco homes as they are a great source of natural daylight and solar heat.
the double shower and bathroom area is tucked behind the wall located behind the bed.
solar energy in the form of sunshine floods through the property.
thanks so much
