Warm Winter Fusion
When it's below freezing point outside and the winter white is overwhelmingly white, then you fight back with as much warm colors in the house to match the fire in the fireplace and the craving of warm comfort in your body and your heart. A fusion of warm winter colors was chosen the decorate the house. Deep earthy colors was chosen for the walls and upholstery, teamed with rich wood tones. They grounded it with neutrals to balance out the palette.
The spacious floorplan was divided in two bedrooms, both en suite and with an extra cloakroom, an open plan living and dining room and a kitchen.
The front entrance. The house was built with a warm red face brick.
this is a veranda into which the living room flows out to the outside. Ample seating was done and it's a very comfortable space all year round.
The second bedroom, spacious and comfortable and with ample storage. It also has it's own en suite bedroom.
A warm wood was used on the feature wall behind the bed and the room was painted in a warm earth color. With it they used a warm white as a neutral.
Sun coming in from the big window are always welcomed and it made this little seating area perfect!
In the dressing area of the main bedroom.....and always so interesting how the mirror tells the story of the room in it's reflection.
The main bedroom is spacious enough for this seating area where they could watch television and bask in the sun that streams through the window.
The room was decorated with the rich deep tones of red earth.....rich wood tones and the warm white neutrals to create a warm but peaceful mood.
They loved the line drawing artworks in its simplistic beauty and used it on several walls in the house.
The living room dazzles with it's deep warm colors and the warm fire in the big fireplace. The sofas was upholstered in a warm color and again paired with the rich wood tones and a warm white to bring balance in the space.
A fireplace to dream about! It was flanked by floor to ceiling bookcases. And yes, inviting you to come in and sit down, eat something sweet and enjoy a coffee.....or if you ask, a hot chocolate maybe?
The living space was designed with folding doors that flow into the entrance hall on one side and the kitchen on the other side.
The background wall on the dining room side creates so much drama and always is a conversation starter.
The dining area with it's dramatic and spectacular feature wall paper makes a dinner party always something special.
Josephine the cat......sleeping through the whole photo shoot....and who blames her? The best spot in the room.
And then there's Jack.....on the hunt for a camera man.....
This is a cloak room for the use of guests.
The warm earthy color mosaic on the vanity wall brings all the atmosphere needed!
This is the first impressions of the house....preparing one for what is to come? Keeping the color palette more low key and almost neutral as you would discover in pictures that follow. But not for long....soon as you walk deeper into the hub of the house discovering more and deeper red earth!
In the kitchen they balanced warm white cabinets, warm wood tones and the red terracotta earth to the T to create a warm, but also very peaceful space! Perfect for that early morning coffee and cereal, chats with friends or family, to cook and to feel blessed in.
The big folding doors lead into the more formal dining space on one side, but there's also a single door from the entrance from where you can sneak into the space maybe for a quick snack or midnight feast.
Second bathroom serving the second bedroom. Big enough and with it's own charm for who ever occupies that bedroom....and maybe never want to leave again!
The master bathroom has lots of charm! Spacious and with so much character! All the elements that made this house special are also to be find in this space. Mostly neutral walls, but with splashes of exquisite color and red earthy tones and the anchors of deep wood tones.
The hero of this bathroom must be the spectacular crystal chandelier hanging over the tub!
Behold the thing of glorious beauty!
From the bathroom flowing into the dressing area.....
And that is the conclusion of the tour through this warm winter fusion! Hope you enjoyed the tour!
Thanks so much Karen!

i saw this very beautiful home some hours ago and fell in love with the WONDERFULl sitting room. I picked my spot, the cosiest seat in the house right by the fire and I'd be content left there 'til spring came around. But by staying stationery I'd miss out on all the other goodies this home has to offer. High quality bedrooms and accompanying stylish bathrooms ..a wonderful kitchen that encompasses all things Scandinavian and is definitely the heart of this home..... inviting and informal/ so beautifully dressed. but it wont be long before I'm back by the fire staring at that oh so gorgeous deer mural and contemplating just how fabulous this WHOLE interior is. A perfect winter refuge!!!..and another tremendous design by Hester.

Ohh this is so warm, so elegant, so gorgeous!! Your ability to mix colors just amazes me. The pinks and cocoa created a brilliant palette. That living room is outstanding -- even where the doggy is walking through! Cozy, cozy, cozy! And that dining area -- WOW! The kitchen is stunning. I want to spend a nice, long vacation here! Are you taking reservations?
