Parisian Pinks
The colour pink was made popular throughout Europe by Madame de Pompadour mistress of Louis XV king of France. She was a trendsetter of her era and was admired for her sumptuous outfits in every shade of pink. Her flamboyant appearance and decadent tastes were the inspiration for this design. This properties unremarkable shell hides a wealth of mostly traditional and ornate furnishing inside.... designed with this notorious mistress firmly in mind, the bold colours would have hopefully pleased her lavish tastes
Second home for a wealthy French woman, set within parklands of Fontainebleau. An overspill of her Paris mansion this apartment has an wraparound terrace with fountains and lanterns. Modern interiors have been dressed in lavish 18th century style to represent the grand homes of that time.
each of the rooms of this apartment have the common denominator of pink ..here in this spacious bedroom soft marshmallow teams up with deep aubergines and pale dove grey.
A pair of ceiling roses adds an additional element of period detailing.
sink into a bed fit for any queen... or mistress.!!
View onto one of the terrace areas
silvery grey damask bedding and drapes so similar to centuries previous ... because luxury never goes out of style.
relax with a book by the fireside.
Bergere style chair became popular with nobility in 17th century France, often from gilded walnut or beechwood. Here its been upholstered in soft velvety pink.
The chaise longue originated in 16th century France and the name translates to 'long chair' and was designed with the objective of supporting both the back and bed and was created by craftsmen for the rich to rest without needing to retire to bed.
Despite the heading we are now obviously in the kitchen ..a mix of everyday functionality and elegant charms of yesteryear.
The walls have been upholstered in the same fabric as the chairs.
Petal pinks, marble and a dash of tweed.
champagne on ice.... anytime... always.
THE BATHROOM..... Raised platform bathtub, floral wallpaper and a combination of pink, champagne and apricot.
Inlay furniture ..so beloved by French aristocrats probably originated in Egypt way back as far as 3000BC.... using coloured wood, bone, precious metals or in extreme circumstances even diamonds to produce highly decorative pieces.
soak in style with a glass of your favourite vintage.
Although wallpapers can be found as early as 200bc in china made of rice paper, it was the French who had the biggest hand in producing wallpaper like we known it today.... and it was engraver Jean-Paul Papillon who made the first repeating designs that matched each side in 1675.
A sunny corner with single sofa and Louis XIV (14th) style coffee table.
Welcome to THE TERRACE area ....this wraparound outside area consists of different areas and pretty features...loosely based on the lavish park of Jardins Des Champs Elyssees where there are many water features and fountains.
The planting with lawn and textured flower beds is a simple recreation of the formal french parks of the mid 17 century. When garden architects wanted geometric designs and a controlled formal feel. Classic Balustrade walls have been chosen for authenticity and to divide the area.
Small semi enclosed seating area lead to the main entrance.
fountains and linked walk ways throughout the different garden areas.
playful figurine water features and lily ponds provide a pretty feature to this terrace area.
space for alfresco dinning
making a splash with these umbrella carrying figures.
relax and recline on the lawn by the lily pond
Going dotty for spots, jaunty in coral pink
The property sits within wooded grounds and offers a host of mature trees to admire throughout the seasons.
The CORRIDOR runs centrally throughout the property linking each room.
Formal and flamboyant, this sitting room evokes the look and feel of traditional drawing rooms long gone. Parisian pinks are coupled with soft apple greens and a glint of golden gilt.
its easy to imagine card games and after dinner tittle-tattle being exchanged here centuries ago... but it is a look desired by many still today...and why the antique business will always thrive and prosper.
A well dressed sofa can never have too many cushions.
coffee set...Limoges maybe?
Wall mouldings... invented by the ancient Greeks and made from plaster....Plaster of Paris is the most famous type of plaster and was made from gypsum deposits found in the district of Montmartre deep in the heart of the capital.
This floral tribute seems a fitting image to close our Paris inspired interior on. Hope you enjoyed the tour and found the décor facts of interest. Bonjour Mon Amies !!

WOW!! Oh my friend, you have transported me straight to France! This is one spectacular, sumptuous home and the owner must be thrilled with how true you were to her wishes. There is such a genteel atmosphere throughout the whole space - inside and out. I loved the apricot you introduced into the bathroom. The living room was stunning, and where do I start with the gardens?! So meticulous -just as I would expect- and the fountains were the perfect choice. Just an incredible design mon ami! I love it! J'adore!
