Contemporary Island Getaway
A basic experiment with a moderately sized space, with the goal to create an inviting, comfortable and flexible retreat - whether a weekend getaway or live & work situation.
Place takes cues from the beach house, industrial loft & mid-century modernism.
My first design on here. Design for a livable <900sf home/ apartment: includes living area, bedroom with bay window & bathroom.
Washing is beside porch out the back ;) Storage is still an issue though. Good luck.

Bathroom.
A bit more quirky with all the material juxtapositions.

Marble vanities & tiles.

Front entrance area is tucked away.
A nice social nook to work, drink and try to drunkenly recollect those piano tunes you forgot how to play after primary school but are now convinced you remember.

I love long islands.
As you can see, everything feels wide and open. Enough space to cook, work, read and anything else.
The leather bench chairs break up the conventional dinner table too. Feels more like a casual studio or cafe, which I like.

Let's go hike that big mountain outside!

Cozy, relaxed & dreamy. What shall I read today?

Security camera hiding in the pot plants ;)

I bought the Chanel book with a backwards cover... need to return on Amazon.

Scenic bedroom.
Calming, beautiful warmth. Bay window offers a private place of respite.

Dusk.

Lying on the bed.
