I decided to do a 3D mockup of a “dream apartment” that was influenced by the principles of feng shui that we learned in class this term. In my further research, I learned that it isn’t productive for beginners to focus on too many feng shui areas in the home, so I chose to focus on the bagua areas for wealth and career, since I will be graduating and heading into the job market soon. To do the design, I found a great online program called HomeStyler in which you can design floor plans, add furniture, and customize the look of your home. I chose one of their floor plan templates which I believed had the best feng shui: its kitchen and bathroom are on opposite sides of the apartment, and there are no bathrooms in the bedrooms, for example. As we learned, no living space has the “perfect” feng shui, but I tried to choose colors, items, and plants that reflected my personal taste for minimalism, good feng shui, and the good flow of qi.
