    How often is the weather the subject of our conversation! With this subject we can remain non-committal and neutral, when we speak to someone we do not know. However much we may complain and moan about the weather, we cannot alter it in any way.

    When Jesus Christ was on earth, He also took the weather as an opportunity to tell His listeners something serious. In His day there was no weather forecast; so people observed the sky to be able to make certain predictions. But notice the conclusion the Lord makes after the statement above: “Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it that you do not discern this time?” (v. 56).
