They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him. Titus 1:16 Some people believe in a God who made the origin of life possible and now directs the destiny of the world. But they do not feel responsible to Him. They behave as if there were no God to whom they are accountable. Others go to church from time to time because they profess the Christian faith. They rejoice in the Christmas story and participate in Easter services. But they don’t think they need the Saviour who was born in Bethlehem and died for them on the cross. Such half-measures are a complete deception. What the mouth confesses is denied in behaviour. What is missing is a genuine relationship with the living God who revealed Himself in His Son, Jesus Christ. This genuine faith, in fact, requires a decision that affects a person’s whole life: Whoever believes in God submits to His authority and acknowledges the truth of what He says in the Bible. He admits his guilt before God and gratefully accepts the grace He gives for salvation. As a result, he wants to live a life that meets with God’s approval. The one who believes in Jesus Christ accepts Him as his personal Saviour. He acknowledges that the death of the Lord Jesus was necessary so that his guilt before God could be forgiven. Out of gratitude for this salvation, he now lives for his Lord.
