Africa: summer sun and water
In Africa water is the most important resource: it gives life, and it cools down and it's of utmost importance to be used with care and not to be wasted. This weekend country house was built in the untamed countryside and high on the hills above the water! To make the best of the outdoor view, they used different levels in the building to create areas for entertaining, relaxing and sleeping. One bedroom, one bathroom but with enough entertaining space! Small, but with a heart as big as the African continent it was place on and with a heart as warm and welcoming as the African sun!!

Small one bedroom, one bathroom house built in two different levels to make use of the magnificent views and to create the best entertaining spaces. Round swimming pool reminiscent of the round dams that's part of an African farm. They used the colors and patterns associated with African culture.

Space Showcase 41 Renders
In Africa, the outdoors are just as important as the indoors. Therefore they created a selection of outdoor living space on different levels as you'll see demonstrated in the pictures to follow.
The pool is like a good old farm dam, an essential piece of an African home to bring life and to bring relief for the warm summer sun.
Living Room
The living room divided in a dining space off the kitchen and a seating area opposite that and has direct access to the spacious upper deck.
A selection of African masks on the wall. Masks usually each has a meaning in the culture where it came from.
The magnificent woven baskets on the wall is so essential to the African culture and such an art form! The feature wall behind was clad in tiles reminiscent of the patterns of the African heritage.
Kitchen
As this is only a small weekend retreat supposed to be, the kitchen is small but efficient and with everything in place to entertain!
A selection of wine on the shelf for the guests to sample!
Terrace
What can I say! What a view!
Under the pergola they created this wonderful dining area and the hammock chairs to dream in!
Under the roof of the upper deck is this seating area. Almost cave like and with the cool breeze flowing through it. Fire for maybe a barbecue later?
And again! The view!
Built in banquettes for seating.
Balcony
The upper deck where you can see so far and so wide it feels like being on top of the world! From the upper deck direct access into the bedroom and living room via oversized folding doors.
Bathroom
In the bathroom they used as much natural material they could find to create a bespoke vanity area and used the African tile pattern as a backdrop.
Woven grass cloth on the walls.
In the window area is the tub of all tubs, welcoming you to get in and relax.
Bedroom
The bedroom has a wonderful screened off bed for protection against the mozzies because you might want to keep the doors open at night to let the cool night breeze in.
Natural colors and natural raw materials making a good match in the decor of the room.

So superb in every way !!! how fantastic your lavish build was..such a eye pleaser on every level.. a triumph of techniques and aesthetics. Just wow!! As for the interior it was sensational ...ohh how i so loved all that white with delicate touches of blues and pale greens. The use of translucent pieces made this gorgeous gorgeous home even more beautiful and the backdrop of the surrounding environment was exquisite. This falls squarely into the category of faultless designing from me Hester...i could not love it more . BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!!!
