Relocation Phase (A'Design Award "Design For Peace" Entry)
(Task) This plan I would refer as Relocation Phase, after the temporary accommodation in refugee site, then to be placed in homes where they can start to adopt into their new home country. The design is focused on comfortability, homey atmosphere, functionality & necessity w/ respect of privacy, possibility of personalisation, sufficiency & outdoor connection. Subtle, soft colours & contrast are applied along w/ different texture to make it feel comfortable, non-constraint to it's actual footprint, harmonious, calm & possibility to bring colours of their choice to personalise the space Open layout & natural lighting coming from glass doors, windows & skylight, to promote a good spatial look & feel to the space & the exterior door/windows having a white translucent glass brings in natural light but doesn't compromise privacy.
Idea of the house is basically modelled to prefabricated compact tiny living homes to ease in mobile mass construction and enough to give them the welcome feel of being in a home and not just having a place to stay.
The living room, despite of its long narrow space delivers comfort and functionality. It has a full-size sofa and all necessities needed for a living room.
Also applying a white translucent glass on the main door gives passage of natural light but doesn't disclose the entirety of the house to the outside, even though the main door is directly by the seating area.
The Dining area, has a standard four seating set and a unique feature, small wall garden. This garden can be a small vegetable/fruit or flower garden, w/c could provide a small produce & as well gardening can be a home therapy.
Skylight right above the wall garden not just to bring in natural light in the space but as well to provide enough light needed for the garden.
The Kitchen, is a full-sized L-shape kitchen, creating a good space for mobility and at the same time enough to support functions needed. It also has additional features such as water dispenser and laundry, essential for a better living in the refugee site.
The Bathroom, is as compact space too but don't lack functionality at all. It still offer full closed shower, single vanity with cabinetry, toilet and all other essentials.
The Bedroom, compact and complete. It fulfils essentials necessity. With this savvy space you get smart storage despite of its size. The bed is built-in with storage under and side.
