My take at a half traditional, half modern Japanese home.
The floor plan is based on the plan of a traditional Japanese home I found on the internet.
Cover & Introduction
The bedroom/guest-bedroom is furnished with dark wood furniture, offset by crisp white and deep red silk with cherry blossoms.
The living room is kept in tones of soft light green and white, the furniture is the same dark wood as it is throughout the house. The room is open to the dining room. Clearly the space is quite cozy, since the resident cats have claimed it already.
The master bedroom is furnised in dark wood, offset by soft blue and yellow on the walls and bedcovers.
The bathroom/guest bathroom is kept in warm earthy tones and stark black and white. It has a seperate space for the toilet and a second seperate space with a spa-inspired soaking bath (see "Bath").
The house as seen when approaching from the front, flanked by two japanese-style gardens.
Another view of the garden at the rear-end of the house. The resident doggos are enjoying the shade of the plants provided.
Another japanese-style garden, located to the right of the entrance at the front of the house.
One of three japanese-style gardens, this one is located at the rear end of the house and accessible from both hallways.
The kitchen is kept in neutral tones and wood. It offers plenty of storage and counter space, a large refrigerator and a snack/coffe-station.
The master bathroom is paved with decorative tiles in earthy tones and gold, adding a touch more glamour are a gold-coloured rain-shower and fittings. Like the guest-bathroom it offeres a seperate room for the toilet and a slightly more enclosed space for showering or soaking in a luxurious bathtub.
The floors, door and window frames and beams throughout the house are a dark, reddish wood, the walls are kept in soft neutral tones and boast floor-to-ceiling windows, giving the space a light and airy feeling.
The seperate guest toilet with it's own little vanity.
The dining room is decorated by orange silk wallpaper with white birds and floral elements, which is mirrored in the luxurious floor-pillows.
The entry hall between the front door and the living room is an airy space with large windows and it's own japanese-style mini-garden.
Located next to the kitchen is the third bathroom. The walls are covered by gorgeous peach and cream coloured marble in keeping with the natural tones used in most of the house.
