Briar Meadow House
Parker and Lia's new house in the Briar Meadow area of Houston
Plan follows current layout. The dining room has been expanded. The kitchen and breakfast areas were merged and made open to the living room (no water has been moved). The third bedroom was made smaller in order to make a second closet for the master. The master bath has been updated.
View into the kitchen - the sink has remained in its original location under the left window. The right window has been made smaller in order to be symmetrical with the window on the left. Fridge and ovens could be swapped.
the built-ins on the left hold the bar. A mini fridge could be concealed below as desired, but would be functional for now and disguised well enough so that it doesn't look like the bar is just inside the front door (even if it is! Priorities!)
A table behind the couch makes for a nice entry/exit to outside. The layout is also set up in order to be open for movement between the kitchen and den.
View walking into the room. By adding a table behind the couch and making a walkway to the patio, it helps with pushing the furniture into the room and making more use of the space. Say hi to Zoe!
Guy closet in the master bedroom (view is from the left of the doorway). The area visible is taken from space from the third bedroom in order to give a second closet to the master.
View from the kitchen into the den. Someone could work at the island and see what's happening on TV.
View of sink and range. Sink is in original location so water doesn't need to be moved.
View into living room again. Ease of movement between kitchen and seating areas is clear as is ability to get outside (in real life, doors are sliding doors, so less to move around than the French doors used in this recreation)
View towards dining area. Wide doorway for ease of access (or for more space if expanding the table a lot!)
Open seating area. I couldn't decide on what to put on the wall, so it turned into a mirror wall (which helps with keeping the room bright since I can't figure out how to brighten rooms when rendering!). This room hasn't been changed from how it is now - just added chandeliers and the built-ins.
View from shower of dual vanities. Bathroom has plenty of space for two people to move about at the same time comfortably
Double shower heads visible
Behind the sliding door is a toilet room. The sliding shower door opens and there are two shower heads.
Dual vanities so each person has plenty of space. Cabinet between vanities holds linens, etc. and a hamper below.
Cabinets on the other side of the sink area of the hall bath. The open space makes a good place to put make-up, etc. Linens can go up top and other bath needs and/or a hamper can go below.
Sink area of the hall bath
I added a bamboo shade over the window in order to hide that it's one of those weird 80s windows. White curtains on either side add height. I used an accent wall in here since it's a small room and seemed to need some life.
View from closet. There is enough space for a table on either side of the bed (I think that Parker's bed is kind of like this, so I chose this bed to give an idea of space in the room).
Bathroom is unchanged, but I've used updated colors. View is from the tub to the doors to the hall and to the sink area (for some reason, the other images from the render won't load)
Outdoor dining area - there's space to move around the table.
Outdoor dining area and easy access to grill. There is plenty of space for a sitting area here that would be mostly covered.
View from back of pool area towards house. You can see how the laundry room is bricked in and uniform with the storage room at the back of the garage, which is part of the reason that I don't recommend trying to get rid of the room (plus - useful space!)
View towards office.
View towards kitchen (den visible beyond) and entry hall. With the new opening between the entry hall and dining room, it makes the house much more open and easier to move around.
View towards entry hall and office. Large openings on both ends of the dining room make it feasible to keep adding people as needed for a large sit-down dinner (not that those happen often, but just in case!)
View from entry hall into dining room. Currently, there is no doorway between the entry hall and the dining room. Adding this doorway improves flow. The room has been enlarged slightly by taking space from the original kitchen area.
View from entrance way towards main living areas. All are easily accessible.
View of entry hall down towards the bedrooms.
View from the entry hall into the dining room and den (kitchen visible in distance beyond den - I thought that a refrigerator would look better from this vantage point than an oven - hence the decision on where to place those two in the kitchen).
View from the bike. Like in the second guest room, I've put a shade high over the window in order to disguise that it's one of those weird 80s horizontal windows.
View from the closet and window towards the bedroom entry.
Exercise bike - since there are already two spare bedrooms and an office, I opted to make this room an exercise studio.
View from the doorway. The room is smaller after the remodel because space has been taken from it in order to make the second master closet. The door visible is a closet. There is still space for a day bed and a desk or a single full bed if you wanted to turn it into a guest room and/or office later
The door to the pool means that people can walk in and drip off on the tile floor rather than going directly inside on the hardwoods.
The box freezer will hold plenty of venison and extra food. The ample counter space next to the washer and dryer makes for a nice folding area.
I stacked the washer dryer instead of having them next to each other. There is currently a sink under the window that can stay. Since there's water in here, it's also possible to put in a dog wash station (so that Croix can be immediately washed after getting back from excursions!)
View from the chair. There is plenty of space to move around the bedroom.
View from the larger closet. A TV is wall mounted over the bed. The two dresser give some extra storage space. The doorways are to the master bath (left) and the smaller master closet (right)
View from the bathroom. The doorway to the larger bedroom closet is visible.
View from the doorway to the master. Since the windows in the corner are the only source of light for the room, I opted to add another window in order to brighten up the room.
View from the closet. This room is the best size and there is space to move around the bed.
View from the chair. Shades give privacy.
View from the windows of the room. A walk-in closet is behind the door.
View from the doorway into the front room. I think that Lia has a tufted bed, so that's what I've used in this room. I think that Parker has a dresser like the one that is in here. Since there are two large windows to the courtyard, I didn't opt to add a third for now.
I've left the courtyard mostly as is. I tidied up the brick around the palm and put crushed rock at the base. I just put two benches out there so it's a nice little smoking spot when having a party. The front doors were bizarre, so I swapped them for doors with windows in order to let in more light.
China and additional extra storage is available in the wood cabinets.
Storage room off the kitchen. Got bored so added pattern and color. There is loads of food storage behind the green doors. The half bath is behind the white door.
Toilet in the master bath
View from the desk towards the courtyard
View towards the dining room, entry hall (den visible through doorway), and courtyard. The little couch is functional for watching TV and additional chairs can be pulled up in order to play games (chess is currently set up!).
View into the office from the entry hall. This room can act as a secondary TV room too. The table under the TV is a functional second desk so two people can work at once. The desk faces the boulevard so there's a nice view when working.
View from the toilet
Half bath off the pantry. I used fun patterns and colors in here too.
View from doorway. The layout gives space for a full length mirror
view from the back of the closet to see the second hanging space and hooks on wall.
View inside the larger of the two master closets. There is lots of storage in here in addition to room for hooks/hanging objects (purses, robes, etc.) just inside the door.
View from the workshop towards the rest of the garage (and congrats - everyone gets Audis!)
View from the third bay of the garage shows a work/storage area.
View from one of the benches showing that the ample space and updated light fixtures.
View of the benches and towards the front gate. I haven't changed anything about the gates.
View as you come through the courtyard gate. The brick and crushed rock around the palm is visible
