They are very scarce and very shy. They live in the trees. They are not usually in towns and cities, but our home has a small forest and a little river with a waterfall, so there is water, food and shelter. They came four years ago after there was a fire in the mountains. They never left again. They are called “Large spotted genet, or Cape genet” They are exceptionally beautiful if you want to Google them. They look like something between a cat and a ring tailed lemur.

Thank you Saira! Yes, orange cats have a real presence! I have one more and two black cats, five large spotted genets come every night, one hundred birds eat in our garden and seven vervet monkeys have just moved in. They are very naughty and they are thieves. Africa makes you strong!

Oh my..a tribute! I have an orange boy too! He's a smart loving wild sensitive Gemini! Our third orange cat. Two boys one girl! Godspeed to him!!!
He was a creature unlike any other and between my husband and I in our time on this earth we have had more than thirty cats, shows how old we are. Ingwer was different, he was not ours, he graced us with his presence, he was not our child, he was our guardian. People who did not like cats would come to our home to touch him. They would stop in the street and talk to him and then apologize for talking to a cat! He appeared out of nowhere one day. He understood things. We learnt from his quiet dignity. We miss him, but are thankful that he stayed for so long. We are thankful that he chose us.
