Number 21.... A mid-century modern styled home
This low footprint single storey home is a representation of mid-century modern architecture that shaped the face and interiors of many homes across America and Europe between the mid fifties to the late sixties. The use of wood paneling was often used and has been incorporated here along with a palette of burnt orange and mustard colours popular particularly in this period.
Floor Plan 306.49㎡
Single storey home consisting of open plan entrance hall leading through to the kitchen and dining area. A narrow central passageway separates these areas from the sitting room bathroom and bedroom. A small wraparound lawned garden with covered patio completes the home.

A combination of white brick and wood has been used to create the uncluttered appearance these homes had. A large proportion of properties built in this time were of single story construction.
Most of mid-century modern homes have wraparound gardens and are designed well set apart from the next property.
This covered patio area allows you to see more of the clean lines of the exterior. Mid-century form was uncluttered and its ethos to bring nature into the home, so its therefore not surprising that this style is enjoying a revival in current times as we strive to live in harmony with our planet.

This narrow passageway dissects the kitchen and hallway entrance from the sitting room, bedroom and bathroom.
Bathroom
The bathroom can be accessed from the bedroom and sitting room. The use of sametone wood is heavily used with the sixties style wallpaper found throughout the home teamed up with white tiles and utilities.

The front entrance gives a neat facade of well tended borders and is a reflection of the uncluttered feel these homes possessed.Th
The back patio is a small covered area to the rear of the home.. directly leading to the main sitting room.
SecondBedroom
The living room is a well proportioned space furned with items popular when these homes where first built. Geometric fabrics were in vogue along with plastic modular furniture that appeared in the sixties.
EquipmentRoom
The kitchen area was an important feature of mid-century modern builds.. certainly many were the hub of the home as usually they were open plan as this room is....leading directly off from the entrance hallway and through to a dining section.
Deep burnt orange tiles and mustard upholstery merge into the midtone woods used throughout this home...colours so popular of this period.
The dining area looks across the lawns and has the bonus of a spacious window seat.
MasterBedroom
The bedroom is in some ways a replica of the kitchen/diner the colour palette remains the same and it also has a window seat. The wallpaper with its bold geometric feel is so typical of popular patterns seen in 60s homes.
Accents of blue have been introduced in furnishes and artwork colours.
Hallway
THe hallway is open plan to the kitchen and doubles as an office space.
