#MilanDesignWeek: MilanoAfrica
Imagine this as part of the Milan Design Week, a showroom with Africa as inspiration! The space was divided in four different display areas, each focusing on a different color combination. They used display cubes to highlight certain outstanding furniture pieces and to demonstrate how to combine them with color and other décor elements. Let's hope you find the Africa in Milan an uplifting and joyful experience. Four different design areas was created wherein they used the bespoke display cubes. There was doors in each area leading out into the bigger exhibition Centre, which was for this purposes not being showed. One glass front entrance was created to give the public direct access to this area.
The first pictures are from the entrance hall with it's magnificent statue and which flows into every display area on the corners of the spaces.
The mood boards of Milano Africa shows the patterns of the continent which is so joyful and never shies away from big and bold colors.
This is the first of the display areas and the color temperature is warm!! They used warm, spicy colors together, resulting in this warm and welcoming display!
One of the design triumphs was this chair and accompanying ottoman!
On the wall on the left they displayed the color palette for the visitor to see how the colors was utilized in the space.
The second design area.
On the wall is the color palette for this area and it speaks of Spring and of light, bright and happy days to come.
In the cube was the designer chair of this trend displayed in different fabric choices.
This was a seating area in the hallway, bringing out a bit of African drama.
The third display area and full on in high contrast color and drama. In this display area they used the color of the year, Veri Peri, and gave it an African flair.
On the wall on the left was the colors displayed. High in volume, contrast and boldness! Could it work together? Well somehow they do!
On the opposite side of the hallway is this seating area, leading the eye to a cooler and softer side of the display.
The last of the four display areas! Here they focused on cool and relaxing colors. Bringing the temperature down by a softer palette and less contrast.
On the back wall is the boldness of an African print, but by adding blue on blue on different blue, the calmed the boldness of the print and let it mellow into the scheme of the room.
On the right wall is the color temperature for this space: Cool!
