Home Stroll - Immersive Third-Person Walkthrough for Your Home Design
Home Stroll
We have designed a new feature that allows users to navigate freely through their Homestyler design projects using a third-person character controlled by keyboard arrow keys.
We call it Home Stroll - an experience that lets you "walk through your home, as if you were already in it."
Free Movement Control
You can control the character using W/A/S/D or the arrow keys to move freely throughout the scene.
The character's orientation automatically aligns with the camera's viewing direction, ensuring intuitive and fluid navigation. Meanwhile, collision detection is fully implemented to prevent the character from passing through walls or furniture, delivering a solid and believable sense of spatial obstruction.
Third-Person Follow Camera
The system features a third-person follow camera that provides full viewing flexibility:
1. Drag with the mouse to rotate the camera around the character
2. Scroll to adjust the viewing distance
In addition, the camera is equipped with an automatic obstacle avoidance mechanism - when walls or furniture block the line of sight between the camera and the character, the camera smoothly moves forward to maintain an unobstructed view, ensuring the character remains clearly visible at all times.
Character Replacement & Scene Interaction (Coming Soon)
We are planning to support multiple character models in future updates, including both pre-selected avatars and user-customized characters, to make the experience more personalized.
Furthermore, we are exploring the possibility of introducing interactions between the character and objects within the scene - from sitting on a sofa to opening a cabinet door - to bring the home space to life with even greater realism.
