Those who were then the public bathrooms, today became the urban center of the city: a building made famous thanks to Instagram and loved by photographers for its blue sky color and for the writing that stands on its top, changed by baths with dreams (BAGNI - SOGNI).
ITALY: Between Ferrara and the Comacchio valleys, there is a small town nicknamed "The metaphysical city", a bourgeoe of peasants who became a small industrial pole in full rationalist style, which remained intact over time.
Tresigallo has been nicknamed "The metaphysical city", built within 5 years from scratch at the behest of Edmondo Rossoni by the engineer Carlo Frighi.
Perhaps it is the geometry of its buildings, perhaps they are the colors of the facades, the materials of the outsiders, the font of the signs: only a mannequin is missing to bring the city inside a painting by Giorgio De Chirico.
Before being known as "metaphysical city", Tresigallo was a classic country of the Po Valley inhabited by peasants who worked on a landowner.
Tresigallo is considered an "ideal city", not because it is a paradise on land, but because it was built starting from a precise idea of society, urban development and architecture.
In six years, what was previously a bourgeoe between Ferrara and the Comacchio valleys, with just 500 inhabitants, became a small industrialized center.
Reviving through the construction of factories for the production of substitutes of the raw materials (we are during the autarchy period), has exceeded unscathed the cement craving of the 1960s and 1980s, keeping practically intact until today, paralyzed over time.
Rossoni's idea at national level was to create a union that joined employers and operators: to give life to a corporate project called: "integral unionism". Idea which, however, was not appreciated at the central level and which for this reason decided to apply in the baby in the town of Ferrarese.
And the project in fact translated into the Tresigallo urban planning, where the workers' houses were built next to those of the owners of the factories. Today no building has maintained its original function. The Balilla House has become a library, the maternity/childhood house is a nursery school.
Tresigallo yesterday and today those who were then the public bathrooms, today became the city urban center: a building made famous thanks to Instagram and loved by photographers for its blue sky color and for the writing that stands on its top, changed from baths to dreams.
