My Dream Garden... the waterside terrace.
I love waterside locations and often envisage a second home looking across the bay or stretch of estuary. Somewhere restful with a garden leading down to the waters' edge. In reality I don't like gardening and the constant battle against weeds and pests. So here i have designed my low maintaince stress free garden. A semi formal terrace garden with archways and ornate pond and different areas to sit and relax in. There's a roof terrace area to take in the spectacular scenery from its raised platform and the terrace drops down to a decked area secured into the marshland.

My idea here was to create a low maintenance attractive garden. A semi formal walled terrace of archways and different seating sections is surrounded by a relaxed decked area with picnic seating and fire pit. ..perfect combination for enjoying a getaway next to this beautiful shoreline destination.

Styled loosely as a mediterranean villa this property with its terrace garden has a decked platform almost growing from the marshland below.
I wanted to incorporate different structural elements and heights throughout this design to add interest and stop it becoming one dimensional.
The colours I have used for the foliage and fabrics throughout this garden are inspired by the blue and greens of the forest backdrop.

Although unheaded these next collection of pictures are all taken of the central terrace from various positions along the decked outer area.

A beautiful sun filled corner to enjoy coffee or some wine. The glassed building to the left is a greenhouse.
I wanted some formality and symmetrical dimensions to this garden and why I designed the pillars and archways.

Every good garden needs a greenhouse.

The terrace is raised directly outside the property and flanked with evergreen shrubs.
This pathway lead onto the side entrance in the next photos.

The side entrance has a canopied roof along with built-in seating and a modern feature wall.
Looking through the side entrance....... go through gate to the pastured woodlands beyond.

Here you can see the double flight of steps that connect between the areas and this handsome old vessel moored for the winter.
