In memory of…
“This is not just about designing a space; it’s about preserving a part of your life for your future self.” I struggled with this for some time, and I think it was because I didn’t want to be reminded of what this particular design depicted. I lost my little brother 4 years ago, and I was the one that had to tell a mother that her child was no longer here. I won’t ever forget her scream that night. This design is a part of me that has and will always be a memory that is preserved for my future self because it is one of love, one of strength, and one of joy, and now I have a way of sharing what this means with others. I wrote a letter to him not long after, and I told him, “You loved fiercely. You lived life on your terms...no one else’s, and you made it your own.” This isn’t a sad memory. It’s a happy one because I’m remembering all the memories we made and the time that we did have with one another. Joe Ryan Faulkner
