Eco Lodge Resort
This complex of family-friendly eco lodges is situated within the depths of a forest conservation site overlooking a beautiful lake. Native trees and plants which serve as a natural habitat to the protected wildlife surround the eco lodges whilst energy consumption and waste are optimised. The main source of heating is the fireplace and the timber walls are highly insulated to reduce heat loss. Solar panels are used for electricity, water is sourced by filtering rainwater, and food waste is repurposed as fertiliser for the vegetable and herb garden.

In order to minimise energy consumption, the eco-lodges are kept small. The ground floor is comprised of an open plan living, dining and kitchen area with a shared bathroom and upstairs is divided into two bedrooms. Furniture is kept simple and low profile as it is made from excess timber.

Each eco-lodge has a herb and vegetable garden, bonfire, outside table and outdoor shower area overlooking the lake in the garden.
Fresh vegetables and herbs can be harvested and used from the garden which is maintained by the caretakers.

The fireplace is the main heat source for the eco-lodge.
A quiet reading nook is placed under the stairs to prevent wasted space.
