TDJ4M1 : Residential Home

Floor Plan 439.51㎡

This floor plan was inspired by the prompt of an open-plan living space. All public parts of the house are connected, including the first and second floor, to really create an open plan residential home.

Hallway

This is my favourite part of the floor plan. It's well lit by the large window on the south side, and features a floor opening, giving us a cool view of the first floor. I also love the beams used in the ceiling.

Master Bathroom

This is the en-suite bathroom for the master bedroom. It features twin sinks and a bathtub. This room was difficult to design because no matter now many lights I added, the room was still very dark. I had to use a lighter colour on the walls and enlarge the window but the corner is still very dark.

Bathroom

This is the bathroom on the first floor. I had the same problem lighting up this bathroom. Even with 4 ceiling lights the room is very dark.

Cellar

This is my basement- or wine cellar. I wasn't sure what to put in the basement and my mum suggested a wine cellar. It features a wall of different wines and a few barrels.

Second Bathroom

This is the second floor bathroom. At first I had the same issue with bad lighting but by picking lighter colours for the wall and floor, I was able to fix this issue and give the illusion of light. I also added hanging plants to add some detail to the walls and bring a little life into the room.

Laundry Room

This is my laundry room. A large window brings lots of light into the room. To the right is the door to the garage.

Living and Dining Room

This is my ground floor, featuring a living room, cloak room and dining room. We can also see the kitchen through the flat arch to the right. The hole in the floor on the second floor gives us a view of the hallway upstairs too.

Second Bedroom

This is the second bedroom on the second floor. Its a (very clean) girls room with a study desk, dresser, wardrobe, TV and full length mirror. The too large windows and multiple ceiling lights provide ample light.

Master Bedroom

Here is the master bedroom. Even with 5 ceiling lights and 2 windows, there are still some very dark portions of the room. If I were to re-do this project I would switch the guitar and floor lamp's positions so the dark corner could be lit up. Left of the wardrobe is the door to the master bathroom.

Cloak Room

Here is the front of the house and the cloak room. In the first picture we can see the kitchen through the flat arch. In the second, on the left we can see the door to the laundry room.

Garage

This is the garage. I wanted to fill the shelves with construction tools but Homestyler doesn't seem to have any.

Kitchen

This is my kitchen. This room also has 5 lights but still appears very dark :( It features an island, lots of plant life and, although cut out of the frame, food bowls for all the cats.

Bedroom

This is the kids room. It's a little messy like all kids rooms and is filled with lots of toys. It also has a cool bunk bed that also works as a dresser, bookshelf and desk.
