Tropical Storm
This design was based on house in a tropical climate. They used a mainly neutral palette with a splash of cool greens and blues. Adding with it the use of a rich teak wood in the choice of furniture and décor elements. The design survived a few 'tropical storms' in the designing process.....and that includes a very sloppy and troublesome roof structure to close the top of the house. But I let is stay.....just because! The floorplan has two bedroom suites, one on each side of the house, roomy living spaces which walks out onto roofed terraces and then into the tropical garden.
This is the spacious dressing room in the main bedroom with ample storage!
The second bedroom was decorated with two twin beds and as a children's space.
Although the room was dressed as a children's space, there is enough scope to change it in another double bedroom and adult space with not much extra to do.
This is one of the terraces which was dressed as a dining space. It has a fireplace for barbeque nights. From this spot you wander through the seating area with it's slatted walls and out into the wonderful tropical garden.
This side of the terrace is off the main bedroom with direct access to it. It has a view on the elevated pool area and is the most amazing place to be when the heat gets too sticky and you need to unwind after a big day.
This is the front of the house with a small seating area. Lush tropical trees and plant surrounds the house.
The front door and a sneak peak into the second bedroom from the outside.
The master bedroom tells a story of dreamy nights in the tropics. Crisp white bedding was used and the room was decorated with a romantic flair, keeping it cool and calm and inviting.
They used natural flax material on upholstery pieces and combined it with crisp white cotton sheets.
Just the touch of soft blues and greens to set off against the dark teak wood tones.
This hallway is in the area outside the main bedroom and was decorated as a library and office space. On the one side it flows out onto the terrace.
The master bathroom was decorated with the colors of a deep deep tropical forest with the dark, rustic tiles against the wall. They kept it open and spacious.
A rain shower on white pebbles, how exotic! On the right side is the sliding door which can be opened to let the breeze and the garden in.
This is the front entrance of the house, welcoming you and leading you into the spacious open plan kitchen, dining and living room.
They kept the kitchen simple and with clean lines to hide any clutter.
A splash of green in the tiles on the back wall of the kitchen.
The big dining table right off the kitchen and ready for entertaining a big gathering of friends or family.
From the dining table there's a lovely view out to the outdoors.
open the doors and then the outdoors in indoors. From the living room area there's a slatted patio area with seating and direct access to the garden from there.
The feature wall was created to bring all the tropical accents into the space and they look amazing.
The smallest touch of blue takes the eye through the room. Combined with the deep wood tones and the soft white neutrals.
The fireplace for that extra coziness!
This is a seating area in the garden. Who can resist the cool green shade!
Can you hear the pool calling you to come and jump in?
The second bathroom, en suite with the second bedroom. It has a good size shower, vanity area and enclosed toilet. Although small, it has a big ambience!
And this is the end of the tropical storm! I hope you enjoyed the tour!
Thanks! surprise!

Brilliant !!!! oh Hester how you transported me deep into the tropics of some faraway lushly vegetated island...and your SUPERB home had me spellbound with the magic you wove to produce the most perfect atmosphere and interior. The dark woods and multiple leafy plants set the tone.. i could almost hear the rustle of vegetation and hear the distant storm approaching. Your bedrooms had so much charm and a touch of romance and the bathrooms looked magnificent with your choice of textures. But it was the central areas of kitchen and living spaces that blew my mind. They looked incredible and surely this design must make the front page. Bravo dear Hester!!!

Ohhh --- what a perfect tropical paradise! You have created such an authentic look and it feels so upscale. The terraces are amazing, and I absolutely LOVE the bathrooms and kitchen. Your shots of the dining area are worthy of a magazine cover. I love every room in this stunning retreat. Another feature, my friend!!
