Living/Dining Space
A homework for an interior design course, I wanted placing functions in the smallest space possible, while making sure the space feels big, functional and spacious.
The living/dining room space is the main project, i placed a hypothetical kitchen near it.
The two spaces use contrast of furniture, carpet, and material to define themselves.
The curtains contrast one another not only in colour but in type.
Both windows are the same size.
The black sliding door contrast the white wall and complements the carpet.
Console and painting as required, made to fit the dining room.
The painting had a bit of yellow to break monotony.
large green plants complements the red interior furniture and provide fresh air, it also enlarge the space.
The type of doors were also considered in the design, two sliding doors were used to save space for movement, one of them functions as window by providing sun light.
wood is used extensively in the design, both as flooring and walling material providing a natural touch with the green furniture.
A small circular carpet softening the transition between spaces
The bookshelf effectively divides the room into two spaces linked together by the surrounding walls and movement walkways and the contrasting colour scheme.
The bookshelf provides multifunctionality to the table, as it used for both reading and dinning.
The Bookshelf is the center piece that allows for this contrast to be possible, it a substitute wall performing the same function in both living and dining space.
Contrast is also used within the flooring, curtains and even furniture.
E.g., Small green chair in the dining room contrasting with the large red and black couch.
Dark dining table contrasting with the light coloured wood flooring.
The two large Circler carpets are the same size, they function by enlarging, defining and softening the space.
The define the space colour/theme contrast.
Their large size give the illusion of space.
large tv and stands enlarge the space and provide surface are for placing objects decorative and otherwise.
Large furniture was used in the living room to enlarge the space, the living room isn't only defined by contrast of colour but also softness.
large swing chair in the living room lengthen the space and break monotony.
Decorative pillows are everywhere in the living room, function to complement with carpet and soften the space along side it.
A cork board provide both a functional and an aesthetic purpose.
The dark wood emphasize the dinner table in the light coloured space.
a red table runner complements the green tables and emphasize the table itself.
