Why should I switch to the new floor planner?

How does the NEW floor planner differ from the old version?

Our new application is similar to what you are used to with a few major changes to improve your overall experience!

  • Create a floor plan in a more efficient and accurate manner, thanks to the enhanced wall tool with dimension editing support and new streamline workflow.

  • You are enable to design in true 3D, including navigating 360° around your interior spaces.

  • Redesigned product catalog comes with thousands of big name brands and material finishes to spark your home inspiration.

Export to DWG is more stable and robust now.

Above are just some examples and there are a lot more! Try and see it yourself.

How can I change the furniture color of products in the catalog?

Sold products in the catalog are displayed and therefore you are not able to change their color using the application unless the product manufacturer provides different color or finish options.

How are you able to view 2D and 3D modes?

To switch between 2D and 3D modes, click on the full-screen icon located at the upper right of the 3D image screen. You can also just click on the Tab button on your keyboard.

What’s in the catalog?

We have infused the catalog with a whole new collection of real brand name furniture items. Check them out!

Are you able to resize products?

You will only be able to resize real life products. This means that the products will only come in the shapes, sizes, and colors in which they are sold. For example, you can find the size of cabinets, Doors, windows are editable on the property bar.

Can you import or export images?

You can import a background image to your floor plan at any time from the top bar by selecting the “Upload Background” option, where you can choose a .jpeg or .png image to import as a background image that will display underneath your design.

NOTE: You can replace or hide this background image at any time.

You can export a picture of your design in 3D from the right-hand menu bar by selecting “Screenshot”. After adjusting the aspect ratio and orientation of your desired snapshot, click the “Take Snapshot” button. The Snapshot image will be saved to the download location for your browser.

Can you export 2D floor plan?

You can export the 2D floor plan drawing dwg by clicking the “Export” or “Export to DWG” button on the “File” option on the top bar. The drawing will be saved to the browser’s default download location.

Which browsers do you support?

Our app works best on a Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 11 and up, as well as the most recent version of Firefox.

How do I create a room?

There are two simple ways to create a room using Homestyler:

From the top bar, you can create a room directly via using Draw Wall by Inner or Center line command. Alternatively, you can select pre-defined room templates as a starting point for your room design. Regardless of the method you choose, you can either drag the room wall section to the desired size or enter you’re specific dimensional in order to achieve your desired requirements.

How do I modify a room dimension?

You can modify the room size by dragging on selected wall segment directly. For precise adjustment, select a wall segment and make dimension editing on canvas for exact placement.

How do I modify wall height?

To set the default wall height when creating new walls, click on “Settings” icon on the top toolbar, and then adjust the “Global Wall Height” value

If you would like to change the height of a specific wall, select the wall, go to property bar located at the bottom and toggle the wall type from “Full” to “Partial”. The wall is now a partial height wall and you can adjust the height accordingly.

How do I change wall thickness?

If you would like to change the thickness of a specific wall, select the wall, go to property bar located at the bottom and change the wall width accordingly.

To set the default wall width when creating new walls, click on “Settings” icon on the top toolbar, and then adjust the “Global Wall Width” value

How do I upload my background image?

Click “Upload Background” on the top toolbar.

Note: Only .jpg & .png file formats are supported.

How do I lift and rotate items?

Most products from catalog can be rotated by selecting the item in 2D view and click-drag the rotate grip and adjust its height position via bottom’s property bar. To lift and rotate an item in 3D view, select the item and click-drag yellow arrow for manipulation.

How do I change a surface’s finish?

Go to 3D view, select a surface, for example a wall or a floor, go to the contextual properties menu bar located at the bottom of canvas,, select your desired material preferences and adjust as needed. Alternatively, you can select a material finish directly from the product catalog on the left of your screen, and apply to a surface by clicking it. Be sure to explore the “Advanced” option in property bar if you have walls or floors! You could create a surface with multiple materials applied. Your imagination is your limit!

May I merge my designs from previous floor planner to the new one?

To provide our users with all the benefit brought by latest technology, old design are currently not compatible in the new app. We apology for any inconvenience it may bring.

How do I zoom in and out?

You are able to zoom in and out with your mouse curser. In addition, in 3D view you are able to move by clicking on the four arrows on the bottom of the screen, and look around by clicking and dragging the left button of your mouse. Alternatively, we also provide hotkey W, S, A, D or the four arrows on the keyboard for a more spontaneous walk through manipulation.

How to add multiple levels?

Adding multiple levels is currently not available at the moment. We hope to have it soon! Please stay tuned.

How do I render my floor plan?

You can render your floor plan image by clicking the “Render” button on the top bar. Two options are available - Small with fast render, and Large with higher display resolution.

Why can't I load floor planner with Chrome, and only get the little house icon spinning around?

If you are using latest chrome while still get this loading icon, try to input "chrome://flags/" in Chrome address bar and enable "Override software rendering list".

Why do you add homestyler logo to my render images?

We make it as a branding, and try not to put the logo over important content, lower its opacity to make it as unobtrusive as possible.

Manage your account

I cannot sign in! What do I do?

There are a few things that might be happening here: one of your previous sign in sessions was via your Facebook, Google+, or another social account (causing our system to recognize your email as a separate account), or your password is incorrect. If you are not using a social account like Facebook, you can reset your password by following the Forgot Password link and process, from the log in screen. Your password and other information related to your social accounts can only be updated by signing into these sites directly and making your update there.

I totally forgot my password! What do I do?

Online: select the “Forgot password?” link in the sign-in dialog.

You will be prompted to enter the email address associated with your Homestyler account on the next dialog, so that we can send you an email with instructions on how to update your password and access your account again.

How do I sign out?

Online: Select your name in the upper right of the screen and then the My Account or Account Settings option. Click the Upload Image button and select an appropriate image. Scroll down and choose the Save button to confirm your settings update.

How do I change my profile picture?

Select your name in the upper right of the screen and then the My Account or Account Settings option. Click the Upload Image button and select an appropriate image. Scroll down and select the Save button to confirm your settings update.

How do I change my email address?

To change your email on Homestyler, please sign in at http://www.Homestyler.com. Then, go to your name and from there “My Account & Preferences”. From this “Account Settings” page, select the “Password/Email” link at the top and change your email address.

Does Homestyler cost money to access my account?

Nope! Homestyler is 100% free to use and save designs!

I donnot speak English. How can I change the application to appear in my language?

Hover / select “Language” in the upper right of the screen and choose from the available options.

Can I merge all of my Homestyler accounts together?

While you are not able to merge your accounts, you can find your designs and use the redesign feature to save them on your new one.

I cannot find my designs! What happened?

Please make sure you are signing, in the same way each time, as you did upon initial signup. For example, if you signed in using an email and saved your designs under that profile, they would be saved there as opposed to if you logged in using Facebook, Google+, or other social providers.

How do I add more products? What can I do?

Please know that we are continuously adding new products and accents for you to use in your designs. Please stay tuned. In the meantime, please feel free to send your product suggestions to us.

How do I edit my saved designs?

Sign In to your account, select your name and then “My Homestyler”. Next, select the “My Designs” option on the left under your profile information. Use the drop down on the upper right of the design listing to toggle between different Homestyler design offerings and then select the desired model from the list to open and edit.

How do I delete a saved design?

Although you can make the design public or private, there is not currently a method for deleting a design.

I found a bug! What can I do?

Select the Support link on the top navigation bar. From the Support page, click the Contact us. Please provide as many details about the issue as possible, so that we can share these with our technical team for resolution.
