Scary Mary

Straight from the Haunted Basement series, Scary Mary is a local ghost. She sits on the stairs at her old basement boutique and waits quietly for visitors.
Her trusted cat Imaglow, who perished by her side can also be seen guarding her on the upper levels of the staircase. Scarey Mary convinced the new owners to keep her vintage time clock drapes as they were constant reminders of her time in this dimension being cut short by an untimely slip, trip and fall when going down to the basement.
Imaglow, tried to lick and meow Mary back to consciousness but ended up keeling over from dehydration 2 days later.
Sadly, no one checked up on Mary as she had no siblings, or living parents or relatives. The new owners found out the hard way that this was still Mary's domicile.
She made her presence known by twinkling the lights, marching up and down the stairs in her high heels and making a mess in the upstairs kitchen from time to time!
The new owners know that the basement is Mary's area and that they have to respect that. They can come down to do laundry or repairs. But the old boutique are could not be renovated or manipulated in any way, other than the occasional visit(or) to browse at her remaining wares.
No one ever bought anything but the owners let people visit to keep Mary happy (and not tossing the coffee mugs).
Everyone knew the local legend. And yes it was true. Scarey Mary would only leave the house forever once the last item from her old boutique was sold. And then and only then would she follow the purchaser home and live the rest of her ghost life with them. Other than that, her ghostly visits outside the house would be temporary.
She had followed a couple other purchasers home previously but they called in some folks & a couple of priests to evict her so she had to come back!
So if you go in the basement, look out for Mary and Imaglow on the way down and try not to buy anything...or else. 👍😊👍
