
And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Acts 11:26 To be a Christian in the biblical sense means to have a relationship of faith with Jesus Christ. How does this come about? Through a conscious turning to God and a personal decision for the Lord Jesus. Then God brings about new birth in us and gives us eternal life. The Apostle Paul explains this transformation as follows: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means nothing other than being a new person who has finished with the old, sinful life. But being something is not the same as living it out. God wants us to behave according to our new position. This can be summed up in one sentence: Living as a Christian means representing Christ. Our behaviour should show that He is our life – that we believe in Him and belong to Him. The Lord Jesus met people in love and helped them. Therefore, we should also be helpful and think of the welfare of our fellow human beings.Christ lived separate from the godless world. This is just as true for us. How can we join hands with a world that crucified our Lord?Jesus always did the will of His God and Father. Now we are challenged to imitate His obedience and do what God tells us in the Bible.
