At the Fish Camp

In the Southeastern United States fish camps are popular restaurants. They are usually family oriented and decorated in nautical themes. A variety of different seafood is offered and near the coasts there may be a special of the day featuring what the local fishermen are currently catching. Condiments such as tarter sauce and cocktail sauce are kept on the table or available in communal areas. A plate generally has the fish you choose, cold slaw, and hushpuppies and French fries or a potato. Hushpuppies are corn meal balls deep fried, sometimes mixed with diced onions. They are not healthy but taste delicious. Many places will leave a pitcher of sweet tea at the table upon request. Sweet tea is black tea brewed with a huge amount of sugar and served cold.
