Swis. Loc Architecture
Founded by George Switzer and Timothy Lock in 2010, the origins of New York City based Swis.Loc Architecture can be traced back to collaborations at Syracuse University in the fall of 2000. In 2003, the two began to work under the moniker of Swis.Loc Research & Development, an incubator created for innovative architectural ideas. While these explorations led to a formal practice, Swis.Loc Architecture remains committed to pursuing theoretical and technological research and development progressively spanning the disciplines of architecture and art in conjunction to fully realized built work.
George Switzer received his professional architectural degree with honors from Syracuse University in the Spring of 2003. He started his career at HOK where he worked on the conceptual designs of projects ranging in size from $35MM to $600MM. Most recently, he worked at Steven Learner Studio on numerous commercial and residential projects. George’s work has won several AIA awards and has been featured in publications such as Architectural Record, Art + Auction, and Town & Country. In addition to work in New York, George has practiced in Connecticut and Colorado. He is a Registered Architect in the State of New York.
Timothy Lock received his professional architectural degree with honors from Syracuse University in the Spring of 2003, graduating as the James Britton award winner for Best Architectural Thesis. He has extensive experience in New York City based residential and commercial design and construction at multiple scales. Prior to founding Swis.Loc Architecture, Timothy managed design and construction of high-end townhouse and apartment renovations as a Project Manager at MADE LLC. Timothy has appeared in The Architect’s Newspaper and New York Magazine. In addition to work in New York, Timothy has practiced in Maine and Colorado. Timothy is a Registered Architect in both New York and Maine and he maintains national NCARB Certification.
